The Opportunity:
Reporting to the VP Reinsurance, this role will be responsible for all financial aspects related to Bermuda reinsurance. This role will also require working closely with Bermuda finance, actuarial, claims as well as external brokers and reinsurers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Champion and model our Liberty values and Guidelines for Inclusion to drive market leading culture and ensure positive employee engagement.
- Management of internal and external monthly, quarterly, and year-end reinsurance reporting
- Ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements and compliance activities are satisfied
- Performing reinsurance accounting activities including preparing, recording, maintaining and reconciling to the general ledger and subsystems in accordance with company accounting policies
- Supporting the onboarding of new reinsurance transactions and acquisitions by establishing procedures to set up and maintain adequate reporting between both parties
- Lead on the reinsurance audit for both external and internal auditors
- Technical research and the preparation of accounting memos to support accounting for (new) reinsurance transactions
- Maintaining and ensures the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and adherence to the internal control environment
- Coordinating the quarterly loss reporting process with claims managers, actuaries, brokers and claims handlers
- Research and drive forward process and system improvements to increase the efficiency and availability of reinsurance data for analysis and monthly reporting
- Work closely with various stakeholders on the reinsurance planning and forecasting processes
- Manage the EXL back-office team, work with them on daily basis to ensure all tasks are completed on time and in accurate manner.
- Other projects and Ad-hoc reporting as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant financial experience in insurance & reinsurance within the Property & Casualty industry
- Accounting designation is preferred (CA, CPA etc.)
- Ability to work with large volumes of data to derive business solutions
- High proficiency in the use of MS Excel, MS Access, SAP, Essbase
- In depth knowledge of reinsurance concepts, products and processes
- Experience working with automated accounting and reporting systems
- Ability to identify and solve problems based on analysis (start to finish concept)
- Proven superior communication, presentation and customer service skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong team leadership skills with emphasis on employee motivation
- Excellent analytical, problems solving and technical accounting skills
