Rebecca O’Connor has been named a recipient of Insurance Business Canada’s Elite Women award

Liberty Mutual Canada is pleased to announce that Rebecca O’Connor, Senior Vice President, Regional Leader, Ontario & Atlantic has been named a recipient of Insurance Business Canada’s Elite Women Award. Nominees are reviewed by an esteemed panel of independent judges, and this award was given to women across the Canadian the insurance industry that demonstrated exceptional achievements and initiatives over the past 12 months.

Rebecca joined Liberty in 2000 as an Intermediate Underwriter. Since joining, she has taken on increasingly senior leadership roles, having most recently been promoted in 2022 to the role of Senior Vice President, Regional Leader, Ontario & Atlantic. She consistently drives profitable growth, and her accomplishments are significant as a people leader and influencer within the organization. Under Rebecca’s leadership, her team has experienced significant profitable growth within commercial property and casualty over the past four years.

  • co-led the creation and launch of a new underwriting career path and core competency framework for underwriters
  • recently became the Executive Sponsor of our Employee Engagement Committee
  • was an active participant on Liberty Mutual Canada’s DEI Committee
  • championed our goal to increase diverse leadership representation at Liberty
  • leveraged women’s network resources from across our organization

Rebecca is also committed to giving back to the community in which she lives and works. Rebecca sits on the Board of Directors for Empowerment Squared, a non-profit organization focused on delivering community support programs to respond to the needs of the newcomer community in Hamilton. In addition to her philanthropy work, Rebecca is also passionate about improving her own inclusivity skillset and knowledge.
